Purpose

This course is aimed at developing the existing skills and knowledge of students who have competed related vocational education in Australia at Advanced Diploma level or higher within Australia and are wanting to continue their studies.

The BSB80120 Graduate Diploma in Management (Learning) will provide a pathway to work in the private and public sectors of business, government, and small and large enterprises to manage people and resources in a critical function.



Learner Characteristics / Client Cohort

This course is available to overseas students wanting to work in Leadership and Management roles in Australia who wish to specialise in Human Resource Management and/or Learning and Development, and are:

  • • Looking to move into senior L&D or HR management positions, training manager roles, or organisational development specialist roles
  • • Seeking to build advanced capabilities in learning program design, facilitation, coaching methodology, and talent development strategy
  • • Already working in HR, training, or people management and wanting a postgraduate qualification that formalises and deepens their expertise
  • • Looking for a qualification that combines strategic management thinking with specialist learning and development skills applicable across all industries
  • • Seeking a pathway to a Master's degree in Management, Human Resources, Adult Education, or a related field

Clinton Institute's Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) students benefit from an advanced curriculum that integrates strategic management with specialist learning and development expertise. The course covers learning needs analysis, program design and delivery, organisational change through learning interventions, coaching and facilitation skills, and applied research methods. Assessment tasks are designed for learning professionals working at a senior level — students develop real learning resources, design training strategies for complex organisational challenges, and demonstrate the ability to lead learning and development functions strategically. With this qualification, graduates are equipped to lead L&D departments, consultancy practices, or training operations in any industry sector.

RPL is available to ensure that those with existing skills and knowledge are recognised and the amount of training is adjusted accordingly.

Pathway

The BSB80120 Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) will provide a pathway to work in the private and public sectors of business, and small and large enterprises to lead, supervise and manage people and human resources in addressing both systematic and unpredictable situations. Possible job titles include:

  • • Operations Manager
  • • Department Manager
  • • Human Resources Manager
  • • Training Manager

Students who complete this course may wish to continue their training by undertaking specialist qualifications in the Business Services or other Training Packages or continue into Higher Education such as a other Graduate Diplomas, Graduate Certificates or Bachelor’s Degrees in Business, Human Resources and Management.


Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, international students must provide evidence that they:

    • Are at least 18 years of age

    • Have completed at least the Australia Diploma, Advanced Diploma, association degree study, or equivalent of overseas qualification

    • Meet one of the following English proficiency requirements:

       (a) Evidence of a valid IELTS score of 6.0 or other equivalents in English Language tests including Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT), Pearson Test of English (PTE), Doulingo English Test, and Cambridge English (CAE).

       (b) Successfully complete the pathway with recognized ELICOS providers, as determined by Clinton Institute via exit score of IELTS score of 6.0 equivalents.

       (c) Student have successfully completed their Year 12 or equivalent in English Language.

    • Have appropriate Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) levels, as determined by Clinton Institute via the LLN test administered prior to enrolment

       (*) The LLN test will be conducted by a suitable Trainer and Assessor or the Director of Studies.

       (*) The LLN assessment includes a written test and interview to complete the verbal component of the test. For international students applying from their home country this will be completed during a skype interview. For all students applying within Australia the test will be completed during an interview at the RTO.

       (*) The LLN test assists the RTO to assess whether students’ LLN skills are at a level suited to the course requirements. It also assists our trainers to prepare individual learning plans for each successful applicant where skill weaknesses are identified. The RTO will work with successful applicants to ensure their skills are at the required level by the completion of their training.


For international Students, it is a condition of entry that upon acceptance, students provide evidence of having an Australian Student Visa (subclass 500). Assessment Modes:

Learning Program Design Projects:

Students design comprehensive training and learning programs for complex organisational contexts, including needs analysis, program objectives, session plans, learning resource development, and evaluation frameworks. Projects are assessed for instructional design rigour, alignment with adult learning principles, and practical applicability in workplace settings.


RPL Evidence Portfolios:

Students compile evidence portfolios demonstrating their existing skills and knowledge against the units of competency. Portfolios include workplace evidence, certifications, performance documentation, and reflective accounts that demonstrate current competence at the graduate diploma level.


Training Needs Analysis Reports:

Students conduct structured training needs analyses for simulated or real organisations, applying established frameworks to identify skill gaps, prioritise learning interventions, and recommend learning strategies aligned with organisational strategic objectives.


Facilitation Observation Assessments:

The Assessor observes students delivering training sessions or facilitation activities to a learner group. Assessment evaluates session delivery skills, learner engagement, assessment practices, and the ability to adapt facilitation style to learner needs and group dynamics.


Coaching Session Documentation:

Students conduct individual coaching sessions with workplace colleagues or fellow students, document session objectives, techniques used, and measurable outcomes achieved. Documentation is assessed for coaching methodology, communication skill, and evidence of developmental impact.


Learning Resource Development Projects:

Students develop real learning resources including training manuals, e-learning modules, assessment tools, or workplace job aids, assessed for quality, accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with training package requirements.
